Create a better future by forgetting the past and remembering it too

Leadership, Life Jan 04, 2010 No Comments

As 2010 is readily upon us, we can now officially do 2 things.

1. Take a few moments to review 2009 for all the blessings, achievements and provision we were given. This is such an important step in cultivating a gracious heart. If we are always focused on what we haven’t got, haven’t received, haven’t accomplished, then we will take for granted what we do have, what we have received and what we have accomplished. Don’t short God the praise and blessing he deserves because we are so driven by what’s next. Its not only okay to reflect, its healthy and necessary. Do this with your family, with your team, with your church. Remind them of why you do what you do. Remind them of the journey that got them where they are today.

2. Put 2009 behind us and start with a clean slate. After reviewing the previous year’s blessings, achievements and provision, its time to push on towards the work that lays ahead of you. This is not a contradiction to #1 above. We are to remember the previous year and be thankful. Then, we are to move on and continue the work the Lord has given us. To live in the past is dangerous and will not produce the results that both you and God desire. So, start new. Clear the slate. Rewrite the goals. Rework the plans. Realign the vision. To live in the past. Take a sneak peak every now and then to remember, but them push ahead. Better days lay in front of you.

What were areas of thanksgiving for 2009 and what do you want to accomplish in 2010?
